I was accepted to McGill University for the Early Childhood Education program. Shortly in the process I was hired at Montreal's inner city Nazareth Elementary School as a teacher's aide, focussing on students with developmental and behavioural needs. My band "A Death For Every Sin" gets an opportunity to go on tour throughout the US and I decide to leave university and hit the road.
2002
I leave McGill to go on tour and take a position in customer service at Montreal's most popular local designer retail store, Space FB. I become the manager at the St-Laurent location and then regional manager to help establish and open up Toronto's newest location.
2004
I move to California to start touring with hardcore metal band Throwdown. I take my love of health and fitness and build mobile gyms backstage where I train musicians and tour crew on the road. This was unheard of at the time, influencing a new way of doing tour life. Between shows I hunt for vintage finds at local thrift stores to give to friends, flip for profit and sell in bulk to vintage shops back home in Orange County.
2008
I move to Toronto to start my career as a personal trainer, working at the boutique gym Aiyuku in the Liberty Village Carpet Factory Lofts.
2009
I get asked to play for my favourite band, Madball. I do a year of touring with them and decide to leave the road to focus on my emotional, mental and physical health while also leaning fully into personal training as a career.
2010
I get hired at Goodlife Fitness and work there just short of two years to better understand the corporate side of the health and fitness industry. During that time I begin my journey with men's work — joining Radical Aliveness and core energetic groups.
2012
I leave Goodlife and take my personal training career to a more grassroots location, renting space from another local entrepreneur and gym owner — Primal Movement.
2014
I open up Anchored Social Club — with the help of many, we renovate a 1920s garage and start making waves in the fitness scene. Working out using other human bodies (Partner Powered), while the external weights are reinforced rice and lentil bags provided by my friends at the East India Company, packed into vintage military duffle bags. Skateboard decks for balance and fun. A pegboard wall to honour my former elementary school. A curated vintage shop at the front entrance.
2016
Anchored Social Club gets torn down and turned into condos. I shift gears and focus on a softer approach to training. I develop the Movement Recovery Method to help people come back to moving and feeling well, over just looking good. Healing with the simplicity of integrating physical, emotional and spiritual practices into one.
2018
While going through a divorce and parenting my two young sons, I find the cold water of Lake Ontario and begin to take this therapeutic practice to new levels. I introduce it to my clients and implement it into my work. I work closely with my friends at Resurva booking company, going on barber and hair stylist tours to help introduce the Movement Recovery Method and support artists in having access to a pain-free work environment.
2020
While working with barbers, stylists, musicians, actors and dancers, I develop the Artist Tune Up — using movement, sound frequency and personal expression to amplify the connection between mind, body and soul. I'm introduced to Stay Unbounded, a new brand focussed on cold water experiences. I join them on their mission, taking part in events and retreats and helping guide thousands of participants. I join a men's group called Collabros, solidifying the importance and necessity of this work for many other men.
2023
I get back on stage to play various festivals with Throwdown. At the same time I take my love for styling and vintage fashion more seriously, supporting photoshoots, movies and video productions.
2024
I graduate from firefighting school and spend two years training, taking courses, volunteering and interviewing for full time positions with the city of Toronto. I didn't become a firefighter. What I got was how to study, how to focus on one thing at a time, and how to trust a process whose end I couldn't see. Worth more.
